Adamawa: Victims Support Fund set to rehabilitate schools damaged by BokoHaram


In Madagali and Hong Local Government Areas of Adamawa state, Parents and children have cause to smile as the Victims Support Fund,VSF has reached out seven major public schools that was destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents for complete rehabilitation soon.




The seven schools to be rehabilitated in the state (Adamawa); were selected from Madagali council while the other were picked from Hong local Government Area.

Professor Sunday Ochoche, Executive Director of the Fund(VSF), notede this in Michika Local Government Area weekend while flagging off the total reconstruction or rebuilding of the council’s secretariat destroyed by previous attacks by Boko Haram terrorists.

Professor Ochoche stated that the Fund will intervene in the rebuilding many major structures like schools,hospitals,and other government structures affected by insurgents attack in the North East States .

We are committed to construction and rehabilitation of public structures damaged by Boko Haram insurgency in Adamawa state and North East respectively”.Ochoche stated.

He maintained that reconstruction of Michika local government secretariat which has commenced already would cost N390 million to cover the entire secretariat complex.

Other places to benefit from the rehabilitation program in the area include Kuzum brigade,clinic at Mararaba-Garba ,block of three classrooms at Wuranki,and two block of classrooms at Futules village”
Ochoche said ,following receipt of formal requests for intervention support from the state government,the fund has signed MoU of N20 million health intervention support to Mubi and Michika General hospitals in the state.

He pointed out that,over 13,000 school children have so far benefited from its education program,in addition to N14000 monthly stipend to over 75 foster parents who care for over 150 orphans who lost parents to the insurgency attacks in Maiha local government area.



In his remarks Gov.Muhammadu Jibrilla lauded the initiative of President Muhammdu Buhari for coming up with a platform to ensure construction and resettlement of IDPs in the North-East.

Represented by state Head of Service,,Dr Louis Mandama,the governor urged for quality job,saying government would not take it easy with any person compromising standards in the course of the rehabilitations.

Deputy Chairman, Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative (PCNI),Tijani Tumsa explained that, no fewer than 20 hospitals have benefited from health interventions support of the committee in the region.

Tumsa said over N1 billion has been expended in various intervention support in the state, adding more is expected in the seven affected local government areas in the state.
