Talkstuff : New Social Media App For Nigerians Launched In Abuja

                                    

 Social media is becoming an integral part of life online as social websites and applications proliferate. It can help to improve individuals’ sense of contentedness with real and online
communities and due to its richness, social media can be an effective communications (or marketing) tool for corporations, entrepreneurs, nonprofit organizations, including advocacy groups and political parties and governments.

 To this end some Nigerians’ entrepreneurs have been making concerted effort to invest in the sector as a way of contributing to information and communication,thereby bringing development to the country.

 The Federal Government, considering the importance of ICT to the nation’s development, has reiterated its commitment to support innovations aimed at enhancing information, communication and Technology and ICT status of the country.
 The Minister of Communications Adebayo Shittu stated this in Abuja at the official launch of a new social App, ‘Talkstuff’ created by a Nigerian.





Shittu said if well harnessed, ICT has the potential to enhance the socio-economic of any nation.

 “Globally, ICT sector has been identify as one with the generic effect on almost all other sectors of the economy. The role of ICTs infrastructure in enhancing economic growth has generated alot of interesting discussions and debates. The arguments are that the development of a modern nation to its full potential in the contemporary world can never be attained without adequate telecommunications infrastructure.” “Recent advances in ICTs therefore have been seen as important vehicles for accelerating the development of information exchange and knowledge as valuable commodities. Exactly a decade ago, the World Bank and World Economic Forum attested to the fact that economic development of any nation depends on the overall progress of its ICT Sector” he said.

The Minister who explained that engaging youths in ICT became necessary for the country to overcome its current developmental challenges, restated government’s determination to support and promote idea that would put the nation on the path of growth.

 In an interview, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications, Mr. Sony Echonno explained that government was taking measures to address cyber crimes in the country.

 The Founder of the new social App, Miss Rachel Ogbonna said the App which is user friendly, was a new platform where Nigerians can reach-out to their friends outside the country and where they can also use the Nigerian slang to chat or discuss.

 According to her, the new platform offers opportunity for the users to discuss national issues, canter decisions made by the authority and to also proffer solutions to some of the challenges facing the country.

She however called on Nigerians to download the new App and utilize it accordingly.
