Police launch crime reporting device (iPolice-Hawk Eye Crime Reporting System)



 The Nigeria Police Force has launched an innovative mobile app, known as iPolice-Hawk Eye Crime Reporting System in order to to ensure a crime-free society.

The application is aimed at tackling crime and criminality in the across the country, with the collaborative approach to security and policing that is gaining ground across the world.

Consequently, the police has partnered a technology firm, which developed and deployed the application.

Launching the app at the FCT police command headquarters, Garki, yesterday, the MD/CEO of Web Assets, developer of the Hark Eye, Kayode Aladesuyi, said the system is widely regarded as one of the most advanced crime reporting and management utility in the world today.

Aladesuyi stated that, “it is a comprehensive system that integrates the Hawk Eye Mobile phone app for the public, the iPolice mobile device terminal for officers and patrol teams in the field, control room with dashboard and dispatch functionality and enterprise solution for crime management. Hawk Eye will end revolutionary crime fighting security solution and technology.’’

He explained that the formal launch of the system is a clear demonstration of the commitment of the police to work in partnership with communities and the Nigerian public to continue to improve the security situation across the country.

On the working of the mobile app, Aladesuyi said, while the mobile App will allow users to report crimes anonymously to the police by video, voice or text, it is part of the comprehensive security solution that involves the equipping of patrol vehicles with mobile device terminals and the revamping of the police command and control centres.

He said the launch of the device in the FCT is a pilot phase ordered by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, which will be replicated at all commands and formations across the country.

Meanwhile, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo, represented by the deputy commissioner in charge of operations, said the app has been installed in some selected patrol vehicles, and that it is currently working to track traffic offenders for now.
