Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima is making efforts to ensure that Borno gets back to what it was before Boko Haram Governor of Borno state Kashim Shettima has revealed that contrary to claims by international agencies that Boko Haram has killed around 16,000 people in the northeast crisis, the Islamist sect has actually killed many more.
 The Sun reports that Shettima revealed this when a six-member delegation of three Senate committees on women affairs, health and primary health, which was led by Senator Oluremi Tinubu paid him a visit. “We have 59,000 widows and more than 20,000 orphans. In Monguno Local Government alone, there are 13, 000 orphans. So, how did those dishing out statistics of deaths come up with conclusion that roughly 15, 000 people died in the crisis?” he queried. We are also confronted with unemployment among our youths, and if we do not do something urgent, we may be confronted with more security challenges worse than Boko Haram.”
 Melaye Shettima pleaded with the senators for national assembly’s assistance to restore the state of Bonro to its glorious state, pre-Boko Haram. “We need your support. I don’t like begging, but I have to beg the National Assembly to support us because of the situation we found ourselves. We want to invest in education, reopen our schools which have been shut down for over two years,” he stated.
 Meanwhile, Olusegun Obasanjo has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the success recorded in the fight against Boko Haram and blamed the growth of the insurgency on the Goodluck Jonathan administration. Acording to Jamaica Observer, Obasanjo made this comment on Friday, September 23 when he visited Ambassador Carlton Masters in Jamaica.
